'Story Of Kunning Palace' Successfully Pranked Fans Regarding Airing Schedule

After shocking fans by announcing a sudden broadcast schedule, Story of Kunning Palace made another surprise because iQIYI canceled the broadcast of this drama.

On May 19th, 2023, the official iQIYI Twitter account made a sudden announcement related to the broadcast of the drama Story of Kunning Palace. iQIYI stated that the drama would be broadcast that night, a few hours after the announcement was uploaded. They wrote, "The wait is over! Story of Kunning Palace starring Bailu and Zhang Linghe will premiere TONIGHT! Don't forget to reserve your spot on the iQIYI app to be the first to watch it!" (reported from the official iQIYI Twitter account).

The fans of Story of Kunning Palace were very excited about the announcement. But apparently, iQIYI didn't let the fans be happy first. Two hours before the premiere, iQIYI announced that Story of Kunning Palace was canceled due to technical issues. "Due to technical reasons, the drama Story Of Kunning Palace, which originally aired on May 19th, 2023, was suddenly canceled," wrote iQIYI on their official Weibo account. With the announcement of the airing cancellation, fans felt like iQIYI pranked them.

Many fans were disappointed by the cancellation of the Story of Kunning Palace airing schedule. This is because that drama was one of the most anticipated dramas to be released because Bailu and Zhang Linghe were the main characters. This drama was adapted from the web novel by Shi Jing entitled ‘Kun Ning’ (A Lady's Tranquility) which tells the story of an outcast queen, Jiang Xuening (Bai Lu). She was forced to commit suicide following the Emperor's death after her palace was besieged. But fate has her reborn. She vowed to reveal the truth behind Emperor Pingnan's betrayal 20 years ago. She cooperates with imperial advisor Xie Wei (Zhang Linghe) to achieve her goal.

Story of Kunning Palace has repeatedly occupied the top 3 positions in the DataWin index for the category of Chinese dramas that will air. Even on April 8th, 2023, Story of Kunning Palace came in second place behind The Legend of Anle. In addition, the drama has also gained more than two million total reservations on the iQIYI platform. The drama's trailer has even been watched by more than eight million viewers in one day.
